Ben Chilwell has taken to social media to apologise for receiving a red card in last night’s Champions League first-leg defeat to Real Madrid.
The Blues were defeated 2-0 in the Spanish capital last night, with goals coming in each half from Kairm Benzema and Marco Asensio, meaning there is plenty of work for us to do in the return leg at Stamford Bridge next week if we wish to progress to the semi-final stage.

Chilwell will sit that second leg out after being shown a straight red card for pulling back Rodrygo when the Real Madrid forward went through on goal and our left-back has penned a heartfelt message to Chelsea fans via his official social media channels.
‘Slept on it and just want to apologise to my team-mates and the fans,’ Chilwell wrote on Twitter following his red card.
Slept on it, and just want to apologise to my team mates and the fans. I made the decision in a split second last night and it was a mistake. I always give everything for the team and i will continue to do so. Thank you for the support 💙 pic.twitter.com/tyuccXsl1O
